1888 Watersnap Sacrifice Aid


The 1888 Medal of Sacrificial Assistance in the Watersnap (German: "Medal for Opphalous Hilfe in the Wassersnot") was instituted by the Grand Duke Frederik Frans III of Mecklenburg-Schwerin in 1888 to assist those who helped the Mecklenburg people during the water shortage of 1888 had been able to reward.

The round medal is of oxidized bronze and carries on the front the portrait of the frost with the heading "FRIEDRICH FRANZ GROSSHERZOG V. MECKLENBURG SCHWERIN". On the reverse side is "FÜR OPFERWILLIGE HÜLFE IM WASSERSNOTH 1888" between fourteen stars.
