Matteo Coppola was the son of Loise Coppola and brother of Francesco Coppola, Count of Sarno. He also had such a title and exercised his lieutenant's role as his father Luise when he was secretly secretary and master in the provinces of Basilicata and Terra d'Otranto. He owned a ship and married Giovannella Mormile or, according to another author, Giovanna Guevara (probably both in the first and second wedding). In 1492 his son was detained in Castel Nuovo After his brother's death he was 20 years old before returning to the Kingdom, occupying public office in the town of Venafro.
