Cosmopolitan (shortly the Cosmo) is a monthly published American "lifestyle" and fashion magazine, which is fully color-printed. The magazine has also appeared in a Dutch version for some time now. The magazine is published by the American publishing company Hearst Corporation.
The first copy of the American Cosmopolitan dates back to 1886, making it one of the oldest American life-style and fashion magazines. The Cosmopolitan was previously a family-oriented magazine. Over the years it has grown into a true women's magazine. The Cosmopolitan cost only $ 15 per cent in 1894, and an annual subscription came to $ 1.50. Today, the price of the magazine is considerably higher.
There are nowadays variations on Cosmopolitan, like the CosmoGirl!.
