Mairéad Phelan is an Irish singer and flute player. Born in County Kilkenny, Mairéad Phelan started performing early. She received class from Dowling's family in Castlecomer County Kilkenny. Besides singing she also plays whistle and tin whistle and thereby won the All Ireland Championships on both instruments. She also studied piano at the Royal Academy of Irish Music in Dublin. She toured the world including the Philippines and New Zealand. She currently has a break from the Medicine study at Trinity College in Dublin to be on tour with the band Solas, in which she is one of the last joined members.
