Marvin Panch


Marvin Panch (Oakland, May 28, 1926 - Menomonie, December 31, 2015) was an American car driver. He traveled between 1951 and 1966 in the NASCAR Grand National Series. In 1961 he won the Daytona 500. Career

Panch debuted in NASCAR in 1951. The first victory came in 1956 at Montgomery Speedway, a circuit located in Montgomery, the capital of Alabama. In 1957 he won six times and became champion champion. The most important victory came in 1961 when he won the third edition of the Daytona 500. In 1965 he won four times, two races on the Atlanta Motor Speedway and another race on the Islip Speedway and the race at Watkins Glen. His seventeenth and final victory was won in 1966 when he won the World 600 on the Charlotte Motor Speedway. After that year, he finished his career.

On the last day of 2015, he passed away in Wisconsin at the age of 89.
