Neuroleptomalgesia is a form of pain sedation. It envisages the use of 2 classes of drugs: a neuroleptic (droperidol) and an opiate (usually fentanyl). Thus, good analgesia can be ensured, thus reducing vigilance and contact with the surrounding environment (sedation), but not by abolishing the state of consciousness.
