Poseidon System

The Poseidon System is a swimming pool surveillance system developed by the French company Vision IQ. Since the year 2000, the system has already played an important role in saving some droughts in different pools.

The system consists of a combination of cameras, software and monitors and portable buzers for the lifeguards.

The cameras are installed in and around the bath to be monitored and form the basis of the system. These cameras allow constant observation of the entire bath in all circumstances (even if, for example, the sun reflects on the water surface), it provides an interesting tool for bathers who are unable to constantly observe the bath. < / p>

The images provided by the cameras are processed by the software that belongs to the system. This software is set so that the system "knows" where all tiles are in the pool, where all the lines run between the tiles and the bathroom floor, where the edges of the bath are and the like. With this knowledge, the software is able to detect disturbances of the normal pattern - such as an unconscious drowning lying over the lines in the bath. When a person comes to a standstill under water and does not move again within a certain period of time, the system saves alarm.

This alarm consists of activating the buzers carried by the lifeguards and indicating the location of the "disturbance" on the monitors. With this information, a lifeguard can theoretically be very fast at the site to get a drip out of the water.
