Disk on module
A disk on module (also called DOM) is a flash drive with an IDE or SATA interface so that it can be used as a hard drive. It contains a flash to id converter that simulates a hard disk so that it can be used without additional drivers or software.
They are widely applied where a traditional hard drive with moving parts is not practical, or takes too much space. Also, a disk on module uses less energy and has much less weight. Their commitment is becoming less and less due to the use of on-board CompactFlash converters, which use the CF standard.
The storage capacity can range from 32 MB to 32 GB.
The method is globally similar to that of a solid state drive, although the Disk on module is usually poked directly on the motherboard.
