Dual P53

Dual was a German manufacturer of high-quality audio equipment.

Dual was founded in 1900 by the Steidinger brothers in southern Germany St. Georgen. Originally, the brothers produced only drive systems for gramophone. The brand name Dual (since 1927) is derived from a drive motor for disc players driven by both a spring mechanism and an electric motor. Dual manufactured a full range of high-quality audio equipment, but was known worldwide for high quality automatic HiFi disc players or disc changers: In particular, the combination of a fully automatic start / stop cycle and disc switch mechanism that virtually no detrimental to the scanning characteristics of the (own fabric) display arm, made these record players a success. The former manufacturers of elements, such as Shure, recognized this as standard, sometimes even top models, such as Shure V15III, were included with Dualdraaitafels. The turntables type 1009, 1019 (the first with anti-skating), 1229 and one of the first direct-powered turntables the 701 are still legendary after 30 years. Dual in 1982, due to competition with the compact disc, went bankrupt. In (2005) there were still, on a limited scale, record players made under the name Dual, but the Dual brand was owned by Schneider AG. Today is Dual Electronics Corp. the US Department of South Korean Namsung Corporation. Under the name Dual and with the well-known logo, they produce various audio, video and navigation electronics, such as the XGPS300, an iPod touch cradle.
