Joseph Philippe François de Riquet de Caraman Chimay, 17th Prince of Chimay, Prince de Caraman (Paris, August 20, 1808 - London, March 12, 1886) was a Belgian politician, diplomat and mayor. He belonged to the royal branch of the De Riquet de Caraman family. Lifecycle
He was a son of the chamberman of Willem I of the Netherlands, François de Riquet and Marie de Cabarrus. He married Paris in 1830 with Marie-Louise de Pellapra.
He was extraordinarily envoy and authorized minister in The Hague (1839-1841), in Frankfurt (1842-1843) and Rome (1846-1847) Between 1841 and 1842 he was governor of the province of Luxembourg.
In 1843, he was elected Catholic representative for the Thuin district and fulfilled this mandate until 1856. In Chimay he served as a councilor (1846), ships (1848-1849) and mayor (1849-1866 and 1872-1876) .
