Donnchad Midi, son of Domhnall

Donnchad Midi mac Domnaill (... - 797) was king of Mide from around 766.

He was Domnall Midi's son of Cholmáin clan, a branch of the Uí Néill in the south. He succeeded as King of Tara and perhaps as supreme king of Ireland when Niall Frossach abdicated in 770. In Donnchad Midi mac Domnaill on Mide's throne succeeded Domnall mac Donnchado, while on Tara Aed Oirdnide mac Neill. His son, Conchobar mac Donnchada, was later sovereign of Mide and, it seems, also supreme king of the island. A second son, Máel Ruanaid, was ruler of Mide and father of Máel Sechnaill mac Maíl Ruanaid. Donnchad's daughter, Eithne, married Bran Ardchenn Mac Muiredaig, Leinster's king.
