Spiritual advisor and cousin of Moldavian lord Petru Rareş, monk at the monastery of Probota and later Metropolitan of Moldova, Grigore Rosca contributed to the formation of anti-Ottoman sentiments in the current opinion, preaching the independence and preservation of customs and ancestral beliefs. As a result of this activity, he became a councilor of his majesty and together with Petru Rareş, son of the great lord Stephen the Great, made a series of frescoes known and appreciated today all over the world, those of the Voronet monastery in Romania today recognized World Heritage by UNESCO.
