Leo III of Armenia


Leo III (Armenian: Լեիոն Բ, Levon II) (1236 - Sis, February 6, 1289) was as Leo III of Armenia and Leo II King of Cilic Armenia from 1269/1270 to 1289. He was a son of King Hethum and Queen Isabella.

In 1262, Leo married Keran (Kir Anna), the daughter of Prince Hethum of Lampron. When King Hethum was in a meeting with Mongolian leaders in 1266, Armenia was attacked by the mommy at the Battle of Mari; Leo (III) was imprisoned and his younger brother Thoros was killed. Leo and 40,000 Armenian soldiers were imprisoned. When Hethum I returned, he knew he was free to buy his son for a lot of ransom, plus giving up a number of fortresses and releasing a few important moments. Marriage and children
