Maria Barbara Bach (October 20, 1684 - July 7, 1720) was the first wife of German composer Johann Sebastian Bach.
Maria Barbara Bach was born in Gehren as daughter of Johann Michael Bach, a cousin of the father of Johann Sebastian Bach. (Both were little sons of Hans Bach). In Arnstadt, the unmarried Johann Sebastian Bach was criticized by the church council because he had admitted a woman, presumably Maria Barbara, to the organ balcony. Church of Dornheim
Maria Barbara married Dornheim on October 10, 1707 with her aftermath. Together they received seven children.
When her husband returned from a trip in 1720, he heard his great sorrow that his wife Maria Barbara passed away and was buried.
