Emilio Osmeña


Emilio Mario Renner Osmeña (Cebu City, September 11, 1938), also known as Lito Osmeña, is a Filipino politician. Osmeña was governor of the province of Cebu from 1988 to 1992. In 1992, he joined the election vice president, but lost to Joseph Estrada. From 1993 to 1997 he worked as economic adviser to President Fidel Ramos. In 1998 he made a throw to the presidency. However, he lost again from Estrada. At the 2010 elections Osmeña will participate in the senate elections.

Osmeña is the founder and president of the PROMDI political party (Probinsya Muna Development Initiative or Provinces First Development Initiative). He is a grandson of former Philippine president Sergio Osmeña and the younger brother of former senator John Henry Osmeña.
