Gruffydd ap Rhydderch (... - 1055) was King of Gwent and part of Morgannwg (South Wales) and then Deheubarth. He was the son of Rhydderch ab Iestyn, who had managed to dominate the Deheubarth from 1023 to 1033.

When he was already a sovereign of Morgannwg, Gruffydd was involved in Deheubarth's affairs, which in 1044 had been torn to Hywel ab Edwin by Gruffydd ap Llywelyn (Gwynedd's sovereign). Gruffydd expelled the sovereign of Gwynedd in 1045 and thus added Deheubarth to his possessions. After resisting the raids of the Danes, in 1055 Gruffydd ap Llywelyn killed Gruffydd ap Rhydderch in battle and regained Deheubarth.

Caradog's father Gruffydd also sought to emulate the deeds of his father and grandfather, and thus to regain control of Deheubarth but was killed in the battle of Mynydd Carn. Bibliografiamodifica wikitesto Voices correlateemodify wikitesto
