Johan Godart of Gendt (1866)

Johan Godart of Gendt (Alkmaar, April 19, 1866 - 1925) was a Dutch architect. Life

Johan Godart of Gendt was the son of Dolf van Gendt and Elisabeth Frederica van Elten. Together with his brother Adolf Daniel Nicolaas van Gendt (1870), he worked, probably from 1891, at his father's desk. From 1890 to 1891 he stayed for some time in Berlin, according to sketches dated in 1891, he traveled to Italy. Presumably from this time there are also some sketches from Switzerland, Mechelen and London. In 1896 both brothers became a companion in the company. Van Gendt stopped at the desk in 1914 for health reasons. In 1896 some of his travel sketches were published in Architectura.

On 10 March 1894 Van Gendt married Louise Catharina Landré. Together they got a daughter. Also see
