Sheridan Circle

Sheridan Circle

Sheridan Circle is a roundabout and square in the American capital of Washington DC. The roundabout is on Massachusetts Avenue, between the bridge across the Rock Creek and Dupont Circle, in the middle of the so-called Embassy Row, so named because of the many embassies.

The square is named after General Philip Sheridan, a General of the Union during the American Civil War. A rider statue of Sheridan, designed by Gutzon Borglum is on a low pedestal in the plantation in the middle of the square.

The parky square is surrounded by chic houses and embassies. On the west side of the square is the Latvian Embassy, on the north side, the Kenyan, and on the south side are Romanian and Irish embassies.
