A thirst strike deliberately stops taking water and other liquids. Whether or not there is a hunger strike is not important because the effects of a thirst strike are much more serious and such rapid onset of death before the hunger strike can be life threatening or develop severe symptoms. There is a rapid and severe physical decline, which is much more unpleasant than a hunger strike. Symptoms are severe thirst, a feeling of exhaustion, irritability of muscles, muscle cramps and muscle cramps, dizziness, nausea, decreased urine production and pain in urination and tachycardia. Eventually, the thirst comes in a shock, causing confusion and delirium, followed by coma and death. Stop drinking usually leads to death within a week. Also see
