A whore boy is the typographic term for the last line of a paragraph at the top of a page or column. Since the last line of a paragraph does not occupy the entire column or page width, it does not look nice, and a classic typographic convention is therefore to prevent this.

The English term for this is widow, a word that literally means widow. This term is also found in Dutch, but this is a sense of linguistic, because the traditional name is whore boy or euphemistic H-young.
