MOB1

MOB1 was the first mobile phone network in Belgium, which in 1977 introduced the era of the cordless phone. Deficiency

This network was very forward-looking, but had to deal with a shortcoming. Indeed, the MOB1 was classified in separate geographic areas without any central control system, with the result that, in order to reach a mobile phone user, they had to know where they were and could thus form the correct zone number. To cover Belgium completely, there were 21 transmitters needed, each with their zone, including 21 zones. So, in order to reach a subscriber, 21 attempts were sometimes required.

This was an analogue network with a maximum of approximately 4000 subscribers. In 1986, the network was fully saturated and started with the sequel, the MOB2.
