Shneidman, 2008
Edwin S. Shneidman (York, Pennsylvania), May 13, 1918 - Los Angeles, May 15, 2009) was an American psychologist specializing in suicide and death.
Together with his staff at the Los Angeles Suicide Prevention Center, Shneidman stimulated the investigation into suicide and suicide prevention. He was the founder of the American Association of Suicidology and of the scientific journal Suicide and Life Threatening Behavior. He was also professor of enthology at the University of California.
