Orazio Gianuzio, the true name Orazio Giannuzzi Savelli, belonging to the noble family of Giannuzzi Savelli of Amantea (son of Giovan Vincenzo Giannuzzi Savelli and Donna Beatrice Horse of the Patrizi of Amantea) was a high-ranking military, Archduke of Austria, Mattia of Hapsburg, Governor of Austria and later Emperor, and then of Count Francesco Martinengo, General of the Alt. Serene of Savoy. Dedicated in 1593 a manuscript titled Book in which it is the Chancellor Maneuvering Maneuver with some subtle Party of Mattia of Austria and in 1597 published the same text in Turin, dedicating it this time to Count Francesco Martinengo of Malpaga . The work deals with openings with and without advantages according to Italian rules, and parties mainly drawn from Polerio's manuscripts. The book is a bibliographic rarity that was scarce. Domenico Lorenzo Ponziani judged the Gianuzio giuocatore more than mediocre and deserving of distinct esteem. His treatise is the oldest Italian chess book on game theory.
