Jef Turf (Mechelen, March 12, 1932) is a left-flamingant. Turf, who is a core physicist, became a member of the Communist Party of Belgium in 1963 and later became Flemish president and political director of the Red Dean. Later he came into conflict with the leadership of the KP, after which his resignation was followed. He founded the French Masere Fund and the Flemish Marxist Magazine. Later he became a journalist for the Belga press office. He is one of the members of the tombstone group and the Res publica think tank.
He is the father of Jan Turf who was the first Greenpeace spokesman, later policy coordinator of the Bond Better Environment.
