Louis-Pierre Prodhomme (Chemazé, August 21, 1883 - 1952) was a French composer, military chaplain and trumpeter. Lifecycle
Prodhomme was a trumpet player at the Fanfare of the 25th dragon regiment. Then he studied at the "École de cavalerie" in Saumur. Later he became the chaplain of the Fanfare of the 1st curator regiment. In 1911 he was promoted to trumpet major (chapel master) of the Fanfare du Régiment de Cavalerie de la Garde Républicaine in Paris. In this position he was 26 years old. He was a pioneer of the military fanfare orchestra, because he exchanged the natural trumpets into ventile trumpets. Now it was possible to play chromatic scales and it required a new repertoire for this medium. But he also proved his talent as a composer and wrote about 40 own works for fanfare, in addition to many edits of opera and operette sections.
Since 1914, the Fanfare du Régiment was involved in the Cavalry de la Garde Républicaine in the diplomatic formulas, because they received the foreign military-honored military guests and played the music for it. After the First World War, the fanfare was invited to participate in the "défilé de la Victoire". The last concert of the Fanfare du Régiment de Cavalerie de la Garde Républicaine he conducted on 31 August 1938 in the cage mat in Château-Gontier. He was succeeded by Raoul Ponsen on September 1, 1938. Compositions Work for fanfare orchestra
