National Theater of the Republic of Karelia
The National Theater of the Republic of Karelia (Russian: Национальный театр Республики Карелия, Finnish: Petroskoin kansallinen teatteri) is a theater in the Russian city, the Russian city of Petrozavodsk, capital of the Republic of Karelia. The pieces are performed in Russian, Finnish and Karelian, making it the only Finnish-speaking theater in Russia. The Finnish texts are translated into Russian through the system of simultaneous interpretation. History
The first Finnish-language theater company of Petrozavodsk originated in 1921 as a division of a (Russian-speaking) folk-scene company. Ten years later, at the end of 1931, a "National (ie Finnish-language) studio" of the Karelian state theater was established. In 1932, this company merged with a group of school leavers from a local theater school. That year, therefore, will be used as the birth year of the National Theater.
In 1982 the theater was awarded the Order of the People's Friendship. That happened following the fiftieth anniversary of the theater. Externe link
