Ron Carter
Ron Carter (Ferndale, May 4, 1937) is an American bassist.
After completing high school, Carter won a scholarship for the prestigious Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he obtained a bachelor in music in 1959. Two years later, he passed a master's bass at the Manhattan School of Music.
During this period, he served as a freelance musician for artists such as Eric Dolphy, Jaki Byard, Randy Weston, West Montgomery, and Bobby Timmons. He also joined Cannonball Adderley on his European tour. In 1961 he recorded several albums with Eric Dolphy and Mal Waldron.
For five years, he made up the Miles Davis band for 19 years, including Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Tony Williams. In 1968 he was replaced by Dave Holland.
After that, Carter worked with a variety of artists, such as James Brown and A Tribe Called Quest, and appeared on over 2,200 albums. Externe link
