Soentar-Chajata

Soentar-Chajata (Russian: Сунтар-Хаята) is a mountain in Northeast Siberia, located on the border of the Autonomous Republic of Jakarta and the Krabi Chabarovsk. It forms the watershed between the rivers Aldan, Indigirka, Joedoma, Allach-Joen, Tompo and Koekoe and some rivers that drain off the Ochotsk Sea (Oelbeja, Ochota, Koechtoej and Inja).

The mountain extends in an arch in northwest-southwestern direction. The length is about 450 kilometers and the maximum height is 2959 meters (the mountain Moes-Chaja). The mountain is a complex of effluent and granite and is characterized by an alpine relief. Glaciers with a total size of about 200 km² are located on the mountain. There is also an 800 km² area with taryn; a jako name for old and big randeis (top ice, Russian: disadvantage), which is mainly due to groundwater and a maximum thickness of 8 meters.

The vegetation consists of a small number of larchs alternated with mountainous mountain trout. It is not far from one of the coldest places in the northern hemisphere (Ojmjakon) and is therefore virtually uninhabited.
