American wonder

Sicula Americana was a naval company founded in Messina in 1906 that connected with both goods and passengers, Sicily and southern Italy with New York with a connection Naples - Messina - Palermo - New York.

After the 1908 Earthquake in Messina, the company's headquarters were transferred to Naples and until 1911 its ships made shuttles to Messina. In 1912, the service was opened with South America with a Naples - Montevideo - Buenos Aires connection.

In 1917, the company was acquired by Navigazione Generale Italiana, which with this acquisition created a new company called "Transoceanica SocietĂ  Italiana di Navigazione" whose fleet was acquired in 1921 by the same "Italian General Navigation".

In 1919 a new company "Sicula Americana" was founded, but in addition to the name the two companies had nothing in common. Notemodify wikitesto
