Billy Gibbons


Billy Gibbons (December 16, 1949) is an American singer and actor who became famous as ZZ Top lead guitarist. He plays his Gretsch Jupiter Thunderbird or his Gibson Les Paul. He also plays on other guitars, such as Gibson Flying V, Gibson SG, Fender Jazzmaster or Fender Esquire and since 2015 the Trapezoid of the German manufacturer Helliver from Münster.

Gibbons started playing guitars after his thirteenth birthday, after he had received a Gibson Melodymaker with amplifier for his birthday. He wrote the number Burn the Witch, which appeared on the Lullabies to Paralyze album, with the Queens of the Stone Age.

Gibbons plays in some episodes of the Bones television series.

In October 2015, Gibbons released his first solo album entitled Perfectamundo.
