Europe (Dutch band)

Europe is the name of a Dutch former music group. History

The band arose after the group of Kayak had ceased to exist in early 1982, and leader Ton Scherpenzeel wanted a restart. He came with the band Europe. Geographical names were then in progress with the progressive rock bands, see the British bands Asia and UK. Scherpenzeel collected a number of musicians: from Kayak came guitarist Johan Slager, from an earlier version of Kayak bassist Bert Veldkamp, and singer John Philippo came from the Haarlem symfoband Taurus. Percussionist Roger Wollaert came from a completely different angle, the hard-rock band Kleptomania from Belgium.

The band had little success and recovered in 1984. There was only one album of the band, the album Europe from 1983, which was not released on compact disc in 2010.
