The Golden Onion was the annual film award for the worst Dutch film, actor, actress and director of the year. The prize was intended as a counterpart of the Golden Calf, similar to the contrast between the Oscar and the Razzie.
It was an initiative of a group of fourth-year students of the Dutch Film and Television Academy, which together with film journalists form the jury. The nominations for the first issue were announced on 3 October 2005, after which the prizes were awarded on October 6, 2005 at the old Scala cinema in Utrecht. It was not expected, as with the Razzies, that the "winners" will get their prize.
In 2007, the last edition was organized.
