Hofje Van Verre (Vlissingen)

The Hofje Van Verre in the Hobeinstraat.

The Hofje Van Verre is located on the Hobeinstraat in Vlissingen. The court was built around 1890 and has the status of national monument.

The Hofje Van Verre is named after the grocery store that had a shop in the Coosje Buskenstraat. He had long been owner of the court on the Hobeinstraat and rented the cottages. In 1958 the court was purchased by the Vlissingse pharmacist J.M.H. of the Sande, which restored it to old state. In one of the facades a stone with the Flasking bottle was embedded from the demolished Burgerweeshuis on the Badhuisstraat. In the centenary of the neighboring pharmacy, a bronze bust of Van de Sande was revealed in the court. The Hofje Verre is not accessible for visits.

Another, much more famous court in Vlissingen is the Zeemanserve, officially Cornelia Quackshofje, dating back to 1643. Literature Also see 51° 26′ 47″ NB, 3° 34′ 17″ OL
