Boutique hotel

Boutique Hotel is a coined term in the United States for small luxury hotels, with an unconventional and intimate ambience.

Boutique hotels are distinguished by the large hotels and motels by providing customized accommodation and services. Often called "design hotels" or "lifestyle hotels", the first boutique hotels were born in the early 1980s in major cities such as New York, London and San Francisco.

Typically, boutique hotels are furnished according to a particular theme or style. Although they are considered smaller than traditional hotels (standards range from 11 up to 100 rooms), boutique hotels can get hundreds of rooms in larger cities. These hotels, moreover, are never part of groups or chains but are always individual and tend to retain their particular identity.

Normally the rooms are equipped with telephone, internet connection, air conditioning, bar and pay TV. Some hotels also offer salons (usually themed) with bars that are often open to the public.
