Bowman's capsule

Bowman's capsule or capsula glomeruli is a part of the kidney in mammals. Bowman's capsule containing the glomerulus

It is a cup-shaped membrane with a single-cell porous wall of only one cell thickness, one-legged squamous cell epithelium, enclosing a glomerulus (a cleavage capillaries, also called a sieve body). Bowman's glomerulus and capsule together form a Malpighi body. The glomerulus squeezes the forurine into Bowman's hair, then it is further processed into the kidney tube running through the nephron.

It is named after Sir William Bowman (1816-1892), a British anatomist and surgeon.
