Hulster Nieuwlandpolder

The Hulster Nieuwlandpolder is a polder northwest of Hulst, belonging to the Polders of Stoppeldijk and Cambron.

It is a recalculation of the Nieulantpolder, in the Middle Ages conceived by the monks of the Cambron Abbey, but disappeared in the waves by the inundation of 1585.

The polder is approximately 200 ha and was reshaped in 1707. The southwestern dike (Hulster Nieuwlanddijk) was designed, on the advice of Menno van Coehoorn, to indicate the last 750 meters to the north-western ravine of the fortress Hulst . Here she walks parallel to the Oude Haven, the former harbor access of Hulst via the Hellegat. 51° 17′ 44″ NB, 4° 2′ 0″ OL
