Inktmot


The ink moth (Amphisbatis incongruella) is a butterfly from the zigzag moth family (Lypusidae).

The butterfly has a span of 10 to 12 millimeters.

The value plants for the ink moth are bush hey and thyme. The caterpillars live in an elongate tubular "cottage" in which they live and that is made of strips of grass and heath. In this case the popping takes place. The caterpillars can be found from July to the next spring, and winter. The species flies in March and April.

The species occurs in much of Europe. In the Netherlands, the species is rare, in Belgium, it is very rare.
