Islamizzazione

Islamization consists of actions aimed at proselytism in favor of Islam that lead to mass conversions in the population concerned. It is usually accomplished through teaching and spreading the word of Muhammad (in Arabic Muhammad, the founder of the Islamic religion, and his basic text, the Qur'an).

The first phenomenon of Islamization took place during Muhammad's life, between 622 and 632 AD, when he gained power across the region of Hixhaz through a series of battles, political deals and conversions. / p>

Afterwards Islamization applied especially to the populations with which the Muslims came in contact during their expansion, particularly the Mesopotamian region, North Africa and vast areas of Asia. A major Islamization took place between the 8th and 13th centuries even in a large portion of the current Iberian peninsula, finding its stable fulcrum in the cities of Andalusia and the Algarve, until Christians recaptured .
