Master of Wine (abbreviated: MW) is a title in the international wine industry, although it is not an academic degree. A lot of demands are required in the field of theoretical, practical, technical and commercial knowledge. Due to the years of study, much self-discipline is required. Since 2000, the examination requirements have been tightened. For example, the dissertation was a formality, but it is now a complete third part of the exam. Magister Vini (MV) is the highest professional professional diploma in the Netherlands. The exam focuses on the Dutch context of the wine trade. After completion, the legally protected title MV will be awarded.

The title was developed in 2002 by the Productschap Wijn and the Royal Association of Dutch Wine Traders. The exam is determined by the Foundation for SENI (Foundation for Drinking Examinations). In 2004, the first candidate passed MV. Also see
