Place (geometry)

In math, and in particular in geometry, a geometric place, or more simply a place, is the set of all and only the points of a space that have a certain property. This property usually refers to geometric notions and is expressed by mathematical formulas, and the geometric site forms one or more continuous figures in the environment of which it is part (of the plane, of the three-dimensional space ...). For example, the conical sections are defined as significant places of the plan:

Other simple and fundamental geometric places are:

These and other more complex geometric shapes can also be described as the zeros of a function in the case of conic sections of a second degree polynomial.
