Venugopalan Ittekot

Venugopalan Ittekot is the regular translator of the Discworld books (Dutch Discworld) by British writer Terry Pratchett for the Dutch language field.

Venugopalan Ittekot is a heterogeneous of Ruurd Groot and was first used by him for the first time in 1990 when translating the work of Jack Vance. From 1991 he began translating the Discworld books from Pratchett. In 2005, Mieke Groot, the wife of Ruurd Groot and herself a translator, took over translation in connection with health problems of Ruurd Groot. This is still called Venugopalan Ittekot. The books have been fully set by them since 2000, starting with Lemen Voeten.

Ittekot's translation is seen by many Dutch fans as high quality, which was even known by Pratchett itself. However, the discussion between fans about the correct translation of word plays and jokes continues.
