Charles-Xavier Sainctelette


Charles-Xavier Sainctelette (Brussels, January 7, 1825 - Elsene, April 17, 1898) was a Belgian Minister and Representative. Lifecycle

Charles-Xavier Sainctelette was a son of Charles-François Sainctelette, industrially affiliated with the Société Générale de Belgique, and of Marie-Catherine Priez. He married Caroline Corbisier and became the son-in-law of Frédéric Corbisier. They were the parents of Henri Sainctelette.

He graduated as a doctor in law (1847) at the Catholic University of Leuven and settled as a lawyer at the desk of Bergen. From 1889 until his death, he was a lawyer at the Court of Cassation and served as a staffer in 1893-1894 and 1897-1898.

He was a provincial councilor from 1852 to 1869 and a town councilor from Bergen from 1866 to 1878. From 1867 to 1878 he was on ships.

In 1869 he became a liberal representative for the district of Bergen and fulfilled this mandate until 1894.

From 1878 to 1882 he was Minister of Public Works in the Walthère Frère-Orban government.
