Chronic non-specific respiratory diseases

CARA An Acronym for Chronic Specific Respiratory Disorders is a collective name that was used for long-term respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic bronchitis and pulmonary emphysema. Because the phenomena of the various conditions appear to be very similar, the term CARA was used. However, because the diseases have a different cause and treatment, this collective name is no longer used. Nowadays asthma is designated separately and chronic bronchitis and pulmonary emphysema is summarized under the term COPD.
