Clytia

Image of Clytia in the Picardy Museum.

Clytia of Clytie was one of three thousand Oceanids from Greek mythology, a daughter of Tethys and Oceanus. The god Apollon fell in love with her, but left her in front of the new Leucothea. In her anger she informed the father of Leucothea, Orchamus, of the affair, which buried his daughter alive because she was no longer a virgin. Clytia then spent nine days on a rock, Apollon - who personified the sun - following the sky until she changed into a sunflower. Related topic
