Commemorative Medal for the Care of Internees 1914-1918

The Remembrance Medal for Care for Internees 1914-1918 is a Danish award. It is a mark of honor of the Danish Red Cross, which was recognized by the Danish government and could be adopted and worn by Danes.

The care for the soldiers of the warring parties Germany and the United Kingdom, who were interned in Denmark, was organized by the Danish Red Cross. Soldiers of belligerent countries were interned in neutral Denmark according to the rules of war law until the end of hostilities.

The decoration is a red enamelled cross of Geneva within a heavy silver wreath. The stamp was re-used in 1953 for the Red Cross Medal for Remembrance at the Exchange of Prisoners of War in 1953.
