Leijpark

The Leijpark is a 30 hectare park in Tilburg. It was designed by Leonard Springer and is located on the southeastern edge of the city. The park is enclosed by the Kempenbaan, the Ringbaan Zuid, the Prof. Van Buchemlaan and St. Elisabeth Hospital. The park is named after the river Leij that flows along.

Although the design dates back to 1919, the park was only built from 1934-1939 as a workforce project. This postponement was caused by land acquisition problems, which has long been a farm for the full implementation of the design. The park is landscaped in English landscape style. Due to the presence of the Nieuwe Leij there were initially many drastic pieces in the design area. Springer has to make a modified design at a high age as there are still problems with the expropriation.

There were some pools digged in the 90's of the 20th century and one wanted to make an ecological forest park in 1992. In 1998, however, facilities were also taken for large-scale events, without affecting the original structure significantly.
