The St. Catharina church was a Roman Catholic church on the 19th Rijksweg in Wellerlooi.
The church was built in 1886-1888 at the Rijksweg, for the 1851 rectorate Wellerlooi, which was elevated to parish in 1894. Architect Johannes Kayser designed a hall church in neo-Gothic style. The ship counted four traves, followed by the lower priest choir. The church was covered with a saddle roof. The facades were provided with the Kayser typical staircase oeuvre.
Wellerlooi was in the front line of fighting between the Germans and the Allies in December 1944. After German soldiers used the tower of St. Catharina church as a checkpoint, the building was destroyed by the English on December 6, 1944. In 1946 the primary school was organized as an emergency church. After this a hall was dedicated for this purpose and in 1947 an emergency church built from the remains of the devastated church was taken into use. The building functioned as an emergency church until 1953 and has until now been used as a business premises. In the early 1950s, a new Saint Catharina church was built, on the Catharin Street, following a design by Pierre Weegels. This church was initiated on December 19, 1953 and has been used to date.
