Frontiers in Microbiology (ISSN 1664-302X) is an international peer-reviewed scientific journal in microbiology. It's an open-access magazine, which means that the content is available to everyone for free, and it is only published online.
The magazine is issued by Frontiers and is part of a stepped system of magazines: articles are initially published in a highly specialized sub-magazine, and can read as much as "take off" to wider magazines. In this system, Frontiers in Microbiology is on the second stage.
The chief editor is Dr. Martin G. Klotz, a microbiologist at the University of Louisville in the US state of Kentucky.
The first article in Frontiers in Microbiology appeared in July 2010. Externe link
