Guanyintempel of Anping

Anping Guany Temple is an Daoist and Buddhist temple in Anping District, Táinán. The temple was founded in 1590. In the fishing village of Anping, an image of Guanyin was then honored in one of the town houses. In 1826 a real temple was built. At the end of the 19th century the temple was renovated. The building was partially demolished in 1986 to make way for broadening the motorway. Six years later, the temple was opened again.

This temple, together with the Chengping Temple of Anping, and Anping's Kaitai Tianhout Temple, form the three major public temples of Anping.

The present building consists of a sacrificial pavilion, Sanchuanhal (三 川 殿), sacrificial hall (拜殿) and main hall. In the main hall are the main altar and the side altar. On the main altar is the image of Guanyin. On the left side altar is Tudigong and on the right is the altar of Sun Wukong. On both sides of the main hall, Sangharama and Skanda are honored.
