Kira (dress)

Tibetan women with the kira.

Kira is the traditional dress worn by Bhutan women.

Kira consists of a wide rectangular dress long to the ankles that is worn over a blouse (usually colored). Above the kira is wearing a short silk jacket, called toego.

The kira that is worn every day is cotton or wool, while for special occasions it is usually worn by silk.

It should be remembered that all Bhutanese citizens are required to wear, in the public domain, the traditional clothing (driglam namzha). Notemodify wikitesto
